Sacrifice

Last night was my first time going to mutual since my new calling (beehive adviser) and it was so great! Brother and Sister Cunning planned this and I have to say the spirit was so strong! The game was called concentration camp. First we went into the gym and there was a volleyball net set up. The object was to get all the members of our "family" over the net without any talking or touching the net. They had to use hand gestures to try and figure out the plan. After a couple of failed attempts, they were able to get everyone over the net. However, there was one last person who had no way of getting over.

None of the youth really knew what was going on, but when we went back in and sat down Brother Mitchell spoke to us. He spoke about all the sacrifices that we have to make and how hard it is to make them. He then spoke about the many blessings we will receive when we make these sacrifices, however big or small. I am so thankful for the opportunity I had to be there - it was so uplifting to be reminded of all the sacrifices people have made for me and you to make our lives so great! It also made me really think about the ultimate sacrifice that was made for us by our Savior.

What a great night! Thanks Brother and Sister Cunning!

Jessies Song

In August Curtis and I took Carlie to a soccer tournament in Park City. Jessie got to stay at Grandma's house, but I guess she still missed me! When we got home she had left a really funny message on my voicemail. Click on the play button to the right to hear her message. I sure love that little girl!

Told ya so!

Well....I'm sure Jacob would rather I tell you that he got in a fight with an older kid, but.....it was his sister! Yup, Carlie took him out. Only kidding! They were jumping on the trampoline at a friends house and Carlie jumped right into his face with her hard head. We have always told the kids that trampolines aren't safe, maybe now they'll believe us!

Happy 15th Anniversary!!

Wow! Its crazy to think that we've been married for 15 years! It has gone by so fast. We have had so many amazing experiences through the years and I am looking forward to many more! I am so fortunate to have found such a perfect match for me. I love you Curtis!

Believe it or not!?

I can hardly believe that school is starting up again next week. Summer has come and gone so fast and it seems like we didn't even do much!

I can't believe that Jessie is in first grade. Yeah, that's right my baby is a FIRST grader! No more half-days, no more shopping with just the two of us, no more going out to lunch at her favorite place, Javier's, no more one-on-one time. I know we'll have a lot of new school memories, but it's pretty sad!

Then theres Colten, a teenager and in the eighth grade. This is even harder to believe. I am sure I'm not old enough to have an eighth grader. Before I know it he'll be driving and dating, ugh!

I can't even believe that Carlie and Jacob are the big kids on campus. It wasn't that long ago that they were just starting kindergarten! It's crazy to think that this is their last year in elementary school. Next year I'll have three kids in junior high! Whoa!!!

Back to school night was a lot of fun. I was helping out with the PTA so I just let my kids do whatever they wanted. Colten even came and I'm pretty sure he was the first one in the dunk tank. Before long they were all soaked, but they had a blast. Their teachers all seem really great and I'm excited to get to know them.

When we went to see Jacob's teacher, Mr. Olney (who is pretty darn tall), he said "Well, you're kind of a little guy!" Jacob just stood on his tip toes and flexed his muscles and said "No, not really!" It was so cute. He's such a funny kid!

I love these kids so much and I'm so happy to have them in my family. I know sometimes I get really ornery and it seems like they're driving me insane, but I do love them! Here's to a great year!

This is my favorite time of year, but this year it is a little bitter sweet! Just because, here are some pictures of past first days of school.

Colten went to Ogden Prepatory Academy for about two weeks of his fifth grade year. It was two weeks of torture! This is him in his uniform. Handsome, huh?

Carlie and Jacob off to third grade. They look the same now as they did then and yet so different! They're also great friends, but they'd never admit it!

Jessie's first day of kindergarten - hard to imagine that it was just last year. She doesn't look too excited, does she?

Park City Soccer Tournament

Carlie's whole team played hard. I am so proud of them!

What a great group of CUTE girls!

After they were done playing all their games, Travis (their coach) said they could jump in, uniform and all! It didn't take too long before they had him in the pool too!

Curtis and I both had such a great time hanging out with friends! We are so happy that Carlie found a team with great girls and wonderful parents! (We missed you Robin and Kent!)
Just hanging out, trying to stay cool, while the girls were swimming.

Just want to say THANKS to Carol for the great pictures! You know me, I totally forgot my camera, again!!!

Happy Birthday Carlie and Jake!

Carlie and Jacob had their birthday party at Toads. It was a lot of fun! They were going to have a swimming party, but the weather didn't cooperate! Its okay, though, they had a blast! They got to do laser tag, mini golf, go karts and had pizza! They have such great friends!

Jacob got a scooter from Colten, Carlie and Jessie. We got him new golf clubs a couple of weeks earlier (he needed to use them so he got them early!)

Carlie got just what she wanted! I think she was surprised!!

Memory Game

My friend Katie has this fun game on her blog, so here goes-

Here is a fun little game... leave a comment on my blog of a memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a short time or a long time, anything that you remember! Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It is pretty funny to read the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you are playing and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. On your mark... get set... blog those memories!

Oh ya, and those of you who have known me for a long time - know that there is nothing to worry about because I have always kept it clean!!! ;)

Flashback Friday

Next week Carlie and Jacob will be turning 11! I can't believe it's been that long since I was pregnant with them, at the time it seemed like it would never end and here we are 11 years later! I've been thinking a lot about my pregnancy and how fun it was to have two babies at once so I thought it would be fun to reminisce a little bit! The pictures aren't very clear - that was back in the olden days when there was no such thing as a digital camera so I had to scan in some old pictures!

Wow - bet you didn't think anything could be that big, huh!? I was about 32 weeks or so. They were born at 37 weeks, exactly 3 weeks before my due date.

Jacob Carlie

Carlie weighed 5 lbs 13 ounces and Jacob weighed 8 lbs 1 ounce - they were so different! Carlie was born first at 6:22 a.m. and then Jacob was born at 6:36 a.m. Even though Jake was the biggest he was a little banged up - he had to be in the NICU for five days and Carlie got to go home right away. It was okay though - we were able to get used to having one baby before we had them both at home!

It did take a little practice holding both babies - but we got pretty good at it! By the way has anyone actually seen Curtis with HAIR!

Their baptism. What a special day it was! I am so glad they chose to be baptized.

I am so proud of them and love both of them very much! I'm so glad they are part of our family. We've had a lot of fun times the past 11 years and I know we'll have lots more fun in the years to come!

Busy, busy, busy

Well.......it's been a while - my life is crazy!!!!! It really seems like the older my kids get the busier everyone gets. Maybe when they start driving it will calm down a bit! I better get used to it since that won't happen for at least a couple of years! Anyway, we've been so busy running to golf tournaments, baseball games and a tournament in Idaho Falls and of course soccer! I guess it is good to keep the kids busy, but man it's wearing me out!! So far this summer we haven't done anything too fun or exciting - nothing worth getting the camera out for anyway! Jessie did do a face plant in the driveway and knocked out her last front tooth and now looks like she was in a fight! Her face is all scratched up and she has no teeth! Well, hope everything is going well with all you guys! Hopefully I'll have something picture worthy come up soon! (Just kidding - I am so forgetful that I usually don't think to take pictures until its too late!) Take care!

Kids Tag

Jessie was tagged by Luke (my friend Sid's son)...........
Here are six things you should know about Jessie!

1. Jessie love, love, LOVES our dog Milo. She just can't get enough of playing with him! She carries him everywhere, plays baby with him, and lets him kiss her all over. Amazingly he loves her too!

2. Jessie loves to play dress up. She changes her clothes at least five times a day, whether it's into a swim suit, a dress up, or her own clothes! Because of this her room is always a mess!

3. Jessie has such an imagination! She makes up some of the craziest games and has such fun doing it! She can entertain herself for hours!

4. Jessie has more friends than she knows what to do with. She can make friends wherever she goes and she always wants to play.

5. She is the baby of our family and by the way she acts you can tell! She has been so spoiled by all of us. We love having her in our family.

6. Today Jessie had her last day of kindergarten - now she's off to first grade! She is so excited to be at school all day and eat lunch there!

Jessie had to have a barbie cake! I had a lot of fun making it!

Colten's and Jessie's b-days are only two days apart so we had a busy first weekend in May!
