Sacrifice

Last night was my first time going to mutual since my new calling (beehive adviser) and it was so great! Brother and Sister Cunning planned this and I have to say the spirit was so strong! The game was called concentration camp. First we went into the gym and there was a volleyball net set up. The object was to get all the members of our "family" over the net without any talking or touching the net. They had to use hand gestures to try and figure out the plan. After a couple of failed attempts, they were able to get everyone over the net. However, there was one last person who had no way of getting over.

None of the youth really knew what was going on, but when we went back in and sat down Brother Mitchell spoke to us. He spoke about all the sacrifices that we have to make and how hard it is to make them. He then spoke about the many blessings we will receive when we make these sacrifices, however big or small. I am so thankful for the opportunity I had to be there - it was so uplifting to be reminded of all the sacrifices people have made for me and you to make our lives so great! It also made me really think about the ultimate sacrifice that was made for us by our Savior.

What a great night! Thanks Brother and Sister Cunning!

Jessies Song

In August Curtis and I took Carlie to a soccer tournament in Park City. Jessie got to stay at Grandma's house, but I guess she still missed me! When we got home she had left a really funny message on my voicemail. Click on the play button to the right to hear her message. I sure love that little girl!

Told ya so!

Well....I'm sure Jacob would rather I tell you that he got in a fight with an older kid, but.....it was his sister! Yup, Carlie took him out. Only kidding! They were jumping on the trampoline at a friends house and Carlie jumped right into his face with her hard head. We have always told the kids that trampolines aren't safe, maybe now they'll believe us!

Happy 15th Anniversary!!

Wow! Its crazy to think that we've been married for 15 years! It has gone by so fast. We have had so many amazing experiences through the years and I am looking forward to many more! I am so fortunate to have found such a perfect match for me. I love you Curtis!

Believe it or not!?

I can hardly believe that school is starting up again next week. Summer has come and gone so fast and it seems like we didn't even do much!

I can't believe that Jessie is in first grade. Yeah, that's right my baby is a FIRST grader! No more half-days, no more shopping with just the two of us, no more going out to lunch at her favorite place, Javier's, no more one-on-one time. I know we'll have a lot of new school memories, but it's pretty sad!

Then theres Colten, a teenager and in the eighth grade. This is even harder to believe. I am sure I'm not old enough to have an eighth grader. Before I know it he'll be driving and dating, ugh!

I can't even believe that Carlie and Jacob are the big kids on campus. It wasn't that long ago that they were just starting kindergarten! It's crazy to think that this is their last year in elementary school. Next year I'll have three kids in junior high! Whoa!!!

Back to school night was a lot of fun. I was helping out with the PTA so I just let my kids do whatever they wanted. Colten even came and I'm pretty sure he was the first one in the dunk tank. Before long they were all soaked, but they had a blast. Their teachers all seem really great and I'm excited to get to know them.

When we went to see Jacob's teacher, Mr. Olney (who is pretty darn tall), he said "Well, you're kind of a little guy!" Jacob just stood on his tip toes and flexed his muscles and said "No, not really!" It was so cute. He's such a funny kid!

I love these kids so much and I'm so happy to have them in my family. I know sometimes I get really ornery and it seems like they're driving me insane, but I do love them! Here's to a great year!

This is my favorite time of year, but this year it is a little bitter sweet! Just because, here are some pictures of past first days of school.

Colten went to Ogden Prepatory Academy for about two weeks of his fifth grade year. It was two weeks of torture! This is him in his uniform. Handsome, huh?

Carlie and Jacob off to third grade. They look the same now as they did then and yet so different! They're also great friends, but they'd never admit it!

Jessie's first day of kindergarten - hard to imagine that it was just last year. She doesn't look too excited, does she?
